I completely failed on posting this gig log from April. The Gilloon wedding was held at the reception hall at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Tempe, AZ… the same location where I DJ’d at back in January. There were about 300 guests so the room was definitely packed.

Since I DJ’d here a few months earlier, setup was easier as I knew were I was going to be, where all the power connectors were located, and most importantly, what changes I was going to make compared to the previous wedding. The biggest change I made was with lights and speaker location. Below is how I was setup back in January. There are a few things wrong with this setup. The first thing is the location of the speakers. The length of the dance floor is over 40′, and even though I have really good speakers and you could hear them from the other side, the focus was on the half closest to the speakers. The other issue is the full length truss I used for the lights. I was trying to make them pop by placing them right on the other end of the dance floor, which they did, but they were in the way.

For the Gilloon wedding, I changed things up a bit. For the speakers, I kept on right by my side and placed the other pair clearly on the other side of the dance floor. I did the same thing with the light by using two t-bars instead of the full truss. This allowed me to do the same with the lights as with the speakers by placing them on each side of the dance floor while at the same time keeping them out of everyone’s way. With these changes, it made my setup look cleaner as well as helped expand the reach of both the sound and light show which I was pleased with.
