I had the pleasure of DJ’ing for Jose and Andrea at their amazing wedding in February, 2018.  The event was held at Aldea at Tlaquepaque in Phoenix, AZ.  The couple had about 250 – 300 guests, so definitely needed to make sure I was on my game.  I was going to be sharing the evening with a banda, so knew I was going to be able to take breaks from time to time while the banda was playing.

The venue had an interesting setup for the DJ.  They had a small area as seen below where I was supposed to be “hidden”.  The problem I had was the area behind me was a major walkway area for guests to pass by.  When we were taking breaks, we had chairs setup, but constantly had to move out of the way from people because there was not a lot of room there.  The other aspect about this location which was not ideal is I could only see half of the dance floor.  Part of being a good DJ is being able to read the crowd, and without seeing the full dance floor it makes it a little difficult to know how things are going.   Of course, you need to adjust to any situation and make the best of it.

Unfortunately, this was the only area they had because of the banda that was playing.  Other than this small detail, the night went along without a hitch.  The dance floor was packed all night, and we were asked to stay for another hour which is always a good sign.

As always, would love to receive any comments or feedback on this post.

Enjoy this short video of the evening!
